Father, You Know Me
Father, You know me too well,
You know when I lie down
You know when I arise
You hem me in from afar.
You knew me in my mother’s womb
Before the world was formed you knew me even then.
For who am I to stand up against You?
And for what purpose would it possibly serve?
Though these words sound familiar
You are the same God that they spoke about
You knew them just like you know me all too well
It was You who made all things and called us unto You.
When we sin we would like to find a place to hide
From You there is no such place on earth or in heaven
Even if we sink into the abyss of the dungeons of hell
We still cannot hide from You, nor should we want to.
So what am I to do… there is no escape from You?
I already love You more than I could love this self of mine
There are no more praises that You haven’t heard before
All that I could possibly give already belongs to You.
I guess You never tire of hearing those three tiny words:
I LOVE YOU!
I ADORE YOU!
I MAGNIFY YOU!
YOU ARE AMAZING!
You alone are God
You know me all too well
So may I just call You…
LORD
