You would have to be extremely naïve or someone who intentionally avoid the world news not realize that we are experiencing extraordinary times. This begs to wonder, is this God’s way of speaking to the people of earth. Since God gave mankind dominion over His creation, the fate of our planet is in man’s care. Christ said, “you will know a tree by the fruit it produces.” It appears quite clear that the world is producing bitter fruit. We are experiencing a very toxic environment filled with negative energies. Since the earth itself has no volition, the blame for causing all this havoc falls upon mankind.
There has never been so many catastrophes happening so frequently seemingly all around the globe. Nearly all the continents are experiencing suffering of some kind from the north pole to the south. Albeit from global warming, to the melting of the icecaps, burning of green forest at an alarming rate, rising of the oceans, depletion of the ozone layer, severe earthquakes, severe flooding and on and on, the earth is producing the fruit of man’s dominion over what God created. The issue becomes, is man hearing the very clear message that God is sending? Will mankind realize the harm that he is causing on so many fronts and turn back to God.
“When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.” 2 Chronicles 7:13-15
Obviously our behavior is not new to God. As King Solomon says, “what will be will be again and what has been done will be done again.” Could the entire history of mankind be stuck in this perpetual loop not rising to any respectable level according to God’s precepts? One would hope that we could do better than this? During the days of Noah God opened the skies and poured torrential floods that nearly destroyed the earth. During the days of King Solomon the scripture above was an admonition from the Lord. Here we are today going through it again. What will it take for mankind to finally realize that without God there is nothing good we can do. If we continue to stray away from our Lord the results will not be good. Unfortunately the rain must fall on the good and the wicked alike so all will be caught up in the suffering. Unless mankind is willing to take heed it appears that things will get much worse before it has any chance of getting even a little better. So what are our options?
What if mankind came together as a global community and discussed the various ideas as to how we can stop the bleeding first. The things that we are knowingly doing that are destroying our planet should be stopped immediately or as soon as possible. We know that we are depleting the ozone layer and without it the earth would become too hot to sustain life or to raise crop to eat. How soon can we turn that corrosion around to where we at least stop the bleeding first? We know that we are depleting the rain forest that produces nearly a quarter of the oxygen that we breathe so something has to be done to maintain greenery so we can continue to breath oxygen.
There is so much we can do to save our planet if we would just come together as a global community and discuss our options. Our coming together as human being with a shared interest would certainly help the planet, but what about the toxic attitudes that causes man to fight against each other rather than work together for the common good? This is where the main problem lies.
There are certain things that are impossible to man, but are possible to God. Since God is all powerful and all capable then why don’t we just turn to Him and according to what God says in scripture, “if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Well… God’s people should account for a fraction of human beings, but if we can’t somehow convince the others who do not claim to be God’s people to cooperate with us for the common good of all mankind, then we won’t be able to do what we know to be the right things to do in order to cure our planet and thereby cure ourselves.
If extraordinary times require extraordinary measures then surely mankind will on his own volition do the right thing, won’t he?
Any bright ideas?
Well I guess that means that God has to do what He always does and shut up the heavens or allow the fruit of man’s labor to produce his earned results. And then… perhaps man will turn to God and seek His forgiveness. And then… just maybe … God will heal our land. For heaven’s sake… why do we always have to force the hands of God to use these extraordinary measures… just to get our attention???
