We know how the unrighteous think and feel but I can’t hear matching rhetoric from God’s people. Why is that? It’s because we are not like them. If you are a child of the Most High God there should be something that distinguishes you from worldly people.
There is this notion of seeking an eye for an eye or a tooth for a tooth. That was written in the Old Testament laws regarding violence and harm to others. That was then… but now we have a new way, which is different from the old laws. The new one says do not resist an evil person.
“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.” Matthew 5: 38-39
We are not to be like them because our Father is watching us and grooming us for His kingdom. They have declared themselves by their acts and deeds so depart from them. You shall be perfect just as your Father in heaven is perfect. Again in Matthew 5…
Life is not s game of tag where the two sides try to match each other. The children of the Most High need not be loud, boisterous or bombastic. Such character is not representative of the Most High. On the other hand the weapons of the godly are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, long-suffering and self-control. None of this will draw a crowd or make the breaking news on the media outlets. So why would you want to match the squeaking wheel? Do you really want to be what they are?
It is only natural to seek justice, to expect fairness and to want to be treated as you treat others. Your start position should take the stand of God. Take a godly position only. You should do unto others, as you would wish they do unto you. This is not a boxing match where you go toe to toe, a punch for a punch because then you become exactly like them. Your stand should be for godliness regardless to what others choose to do.
You have a divine mission at hand. You are to seek the kingdom of heaven and find your way back to the Most High. Do you believe those who act unrighteous and do wicked things will even see God’s kingdom? No, they don’t see or know God; don’t act godly and have no desire for the things of God. Is that what you want to match? If you do what they do and act like they act you will receive what they receive and it will not be from your Heavenly Father. They are children of the world. They neither see mission nor purpose, but only what they might gain for themselves. Is that what you want to match?
Many people look at the world and desire worldly things. There is nothing wrong with desiring nice things but at what cost? Are you willing to do wrong things in order to get what you desire? Yes the flesh desires things of the flesh while the spirit desires what the Spirit compels. Which do you follow, the desires of the flesh or the desires of the Most High God? That is your fundamental choice. This world is divided amongst the two forces, those who are for God and those who are not for God. There is no middle ground.
Christ says: “He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.” Matthew 12:30: Why are we trying to mimic the desires of the worldly when your Mentor says the opposite? Are you a follower of Christ or are you a follower of the world? Those who follow Christ get what Christ offers and those who follow the desires of the flesh get what flesh desires. It was formed from the dirt and shall return to the dirt; “from ashes to ashes, from dirt to dirt.” When we die the flesh return to that from which we came but the soul goes back to the Spirit that it claims.
Yes, by all means stand up for God…speak out for God, but if you belong to God you really shouldn’t want to act like they act and do what they do. You are not to match them punch for punch but instead, turn the other cheek, which means to walk away. Do not return evil for evil. You stand for God. Yes, by all means, stand up and speak out but do not do it as the heathens do. This is the word…
