Triumph over Trump

Rarely should anyone speak negatively about a duly selected leader of a nation because God allowed this person to sit in such a high position ruling over so many of His people. There is a similar story in the book of 1Samual when children of Israel wanted to have a worldly king to rule over them and fight their battles. God had delivered the children of Israel out of bondage and watched over them through the years. But the people wanted an earthly king like the nearby areas around them had a ruling king.

Through the profit Samuel God let His people know how a king would rule over them and it would not be good. 1Sam 8: 10-20 Still the Israelites insisted upon having a king. Saul was selected to become Israel’s first king. God allowed it to happen knowing what was to come. In Saul the people got a leader who was not obedient to God’s ways. Ultimately when the wishes of the people are chosen over Godliness; God will always triumph.

Like the Israelites did many centuries ago, America has chosen a leader that is brash, flashy, egotistical, and appears to be steeped in ways that are ungodly. That’s why many people voted for him. They thought he would come in and drain the swamp, but instead he brought in more predators into the government.

He brought in people who would agree with everything he enacted. He personally boasted about doing horrible things to women. He said that he could shoot someone on 5th avenue and his people would still love him. He takes children from their parents and lock them in cages. He hates people of color, wants to block all Muslims from entering our country. He called Mexicans rapist and murderers. He called countries with black majorities, “Sh--hole countries.” He lies every day that he open his mouth. He destroys the fragile relationships we have established all around the world with our allies, friends and foes. I could go on and on but this blog would be too long covering his negativity, which would be quite depressing.

Normally I would hesitate to say such things about our president out of respect for the office that he holds, but when the character of the person sitting in that sacred office is so blatantly inadequate to serve, yes I said serve, then the people have to speak out and state the truth. In like manner we are to hate the sin but love the sinner. We are all sinners but when sin becomes irrelevant to the person committing the acts we are not to stand by such a person. If I see my brother sin and continue to sin with no desire to change I can no longer remain silent. At minimum I should caution others that may not be aware that this brother is not a man of God. You will know a person of God by the fruit they bear.

“For a good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. For every tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” Luke 6:43-45

Far be it from me to speak ill of the office of the presidency, but shame on me if I do not speak truth. It was Christ that said this: “For every tree is known by its own fruit;” He also said, “For out of the abundance of the heart every man speaks.” I am only sharing this truth with you. People reveal themselves by their acts and deeds. If we listen to the words that come out of this elected official’s mouth that should tell us what is in his heart. Let those who have ears hear; and those who have eyes see.

Yes, I know that I am a sinner as well. I pray and seek forgiveness for my infractions against God. I cannot speak for our president but certainly he speaks boldly and loudly and often. So far I hear no remorse, or humility, or repentance, or anything our Father requires in order that He might be forgiven. Woe to those who oppose God! God will always be triumph.

Even though we don’t know what God’s plan might be, we know with certainty that God has a plan. Perhaps America has some retribution to pay and this is how God decided to handle the matter. There’s some stuff in the underbelly of this country that needs fixing. Just as Saul was used to show God’s people where to place their trust, God might be using this person to flush out things that needs fixing in our land.

As Americans we should all pray for our president because we know that God will always be triumph. We need to pray for America as well. Triumph over Trump!
